In Quest of Enlightenment

If you’ve ever felt like questioning existence, or have been curious, or felt an uncontrolable urge to know the truth about life and death, the mysteries surrounding re-incarnation, or simply question your place in this vast Universe, then this blog post is for you.

What is Enlightenment?

Enlightenment has always been a subject that has intrigued humanity for millennium. It’s a consciousness that is just a level above our current consciousness that is, the ‘self-conscious’ level, which gives us the ability to perceive ourselves as a distinctly separate entity from the rest of the world, with the ability to interact, communicate, live and materially progress in a rough, yet progressive society.

A level that has been important in humankind’s mental evolution as it paved the way for the oncoming of cosmic consciousness, (also known as enlightenment), through knowledge and experience gained as a self-conscious being.

Enlightenment, conversely, is the elimination of all earthly desires and the awareness of oneness (not separation as in self-consciousness), with everything that exists in the whole universe.

From Self-Consciousness to Self Realization

Self-consciousness has been the prevailing human consciousness for many thousands of years and has been the main cause of misery, division, greed, ambition and all other human characteristics and traits to date that has moulded the society we live in today. Without self-consciousness there would have been no civilization, as we know it, as we would have existed in an animalistic state, just like the animals we see around us.

We are now transitioning into the next phase of consciousness which would transform humanity into a species that would be ready to progress into the next millennium.

What triggers it is the uncontrollable urge to know the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of things in our existence. Not scientifically but spiritually. Many of us start questioning about existence, life, and the reason for being alive. Some may think they are going crazy because they are asking questions that their peers may find out of place and absurd.

They may feel rejected and alone. They feel ’melancholic’ and prefer to be on their own for no reason. Such people are not much interested in what the world has to offer. They get easily bored as their minds are restless and tend to revert back to all their unanswered questions.

This, is a good sign as this may lead to a most coveted spiritual experience of all, Enlightenment!

Eternal life of bliss and contentment

Today, humanity is bordering the red line that delimits self and cosmic consciousness. This has been the case for the last thousand years and the process has been very gradual. Not because there were not enough instances of enlightenment but because those who became enlightened were living at a time when distance and communication were two great hurdles.

The known cases were recognized through their writings, or some extraordinary ability they displayed during their lifetimes. Others lived and died with hardly any record of their existence.

Enlightened Entities

Moses, Buddha, Jesus and Mohammad have been the most prominent of enlightenment cases as they interacted with the people of their time. Others like Robert Bucke, Honore de Balzac, Sir Francis Bacon, Dante, Walter Whitman, Jean Jaques Rousseau, to name a few, were cases that were known through their writings and considered enlightened entities.

There are unknown cases of enlightenment. The very nature of enlightenment is humility and as such those who achieve it are not much interested in interacting with others. They are attuned to a different wavelength to the universe than others. As such the enlightened souls prefer to remain incognito. These enlightened usually, therefore, lead a life in solitude, in a state of eternal bliss and contentment, looking forward to their next life in eternity.

So, what is the experience?

When the time comes, you will have a subjective experience which is beyond description. It is a feeling of peace and contentment beyond any word can express.

You feel one with the very object you are touching and looking at. Everything seems new and wonderfully bright, like in a dreamworld. Touching anything gives you a thrill, breathing gives you immense satisfaction and with this comes a sense of oneness with everything. You feeling of love is enhanced and you think you own the Universe!

Such pinnacles of knowledge and satisfaction can be achieved by anyone. Age and education are not important. People think that meditation and prayers, fasting and self-mutilation can help towards its oncoming. That’s not always the case. It’s a matter of changing our mental attitudes, prepare ourselves for the expereince.

There are some basic fundamental pre-requisites that are crucial to experiencing enlightenment. The following list of human traits are to be adopted. Start applying them to your everyday life. They would help recondition your mindset and better prepare you for the onset of Enlightenment.
● Be tolerant
● Never offend or take offence
● Be kind, honest, caring and loyal
● Try to extinguish all desires
